Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of quality management experience in a contract manufacturing environment focused on sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) for complex machined and fabricated parts.
  • Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and other precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to work primarily in shop-floor and production-area environments, stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds occasionally, use personal protective equipment, and follow safety protocols.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with AS9100 and other applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including AWS, ASME, and ITAR.
  • Manage ITAR compliance related to quality processes and documentation.
  • Supervise and support inspection activities for raw materials, in-process production, and final inspection of sheet metal and CNC components.
  • Ensure all measuring and test equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Manage quality documentation, inspection records, material traceability, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Prepare and present quality performance metrics and reports to leadership and customers.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using 5S, Six Sigma, statistical process control (SPC), and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits and customer visits, specifically for AS9100.
  • Supervise quality inspectors and technicians and provide training and guidance on inspection techniques and quality procedures.
  • Foster a culture of quality and accountability across production.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) or material requirements planning (MRP) systems and quality modules.
  • Familiarity with production part approval process (PPAP), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), statistical process control (SPC), or advanced product quality planning (APQP) processes.
