Requirements
  • A master's degree is required for the Student Athlete Adviser Advanced Professional level.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience is required for the Student Athlete Adviser Advanced Professional level.
  • A master's degree is required for the Student Athlete Adviser Intermediate Professional level.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience is required for the Student Athlete Adviser Intermediate Professional level.
  • The position must adhere to NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and Penn State University regulations affecting the sport and the University.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • The position requires a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate academic support and counseling services for assigned football student-athletes, including tracking and monitoring academic progress and eligibility.
  • Communicate student-athlete academic progress to coaching staffs, athletic administration, and the Morgan Academic Center Director.
  • Teach one section of the student-athlete first-year seminar course.
  • Supervise and direct the daily and weekly work of two part-time Academic Support Assistants.
  • Refer student-athletes to appropriate University resources as needed.
  • Meet with prospective student-athletes and families throughout the recruiting process.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Director and Associate Director.
  • Work evening and weekend hours.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in counselor education, college student personnel, sports management, social work, education, higher education administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
