Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of emergency and critical care experience, or approximately 5 years of general practice experience with strong clinical skills, is required.
  • Confidence with venepuncture, catheterisation, anaesthesia monitoring and emergency triage is required.
  • Availability across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays, is required.
  • The role requires strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
  • Triage and assist with the stabilisation of emergency presentations.
  • Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics and surgeries.
  • Perform technical nursing skills including venepuncture, intravenous catheterisation, blood sampling and patient monitoring.
  • Monitor anaesthesia and provide high-quality post-operative and critical care.
  • Recognise and respond confidently to changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to patient care planning.
  • Communicate with clinicians, clients and the wider hospital team.
  • Work collaboratively across the multidisciplinary hospital to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
