Piping Engineer

General

⦁ Participates in the development and implementation of engineering practices, workflows and procedures; recommends and implements resulting specs and procedures.

⦁ Participates to reviews of work activities and projects; monitors workflow. ⦁ Consults with and makes recommendations to SME and Project Management Teams.

⦁ Controls key parameters (KPIs), benchmarks and efficiency figures to be applied in estimating equipment, material and man-hours. ⦁ Contributes to optimization of engineering practices, workflows and procedures based on collected KPIs.

⦁ Solves problems of various degrees of complexity.

⦁ Coordinates and participates for the training programs for Designers / Engineers/Senior Engineers in the technical Discipline. Project execution ⦁ Ensures compliance to Discipline Manual and Job Manual during project execution to ensure that all contractual requirements are been implemented and fulfilled.

⦁ Ensures good quality of the deliverables for the design work. ⦁ Ensures completion of WBS elements within allotted man-hours and schedule dates. ⦁ Ensures on time quality review of Inter-discipline documents and vendor deliverables.

⦁ Contributes to implementation of safety relevant principles, standards, rules and procedures.

⦁ Ensures implementation of lessons learnt from previous projects.

⦁ Manages the technical procurement activities for various types of equipment. ⦁ Reviews and approves Vendor documents applicable for the Discipline.

⦁ Attends to inspections as per requirement of the inspection department ⦁ Site assistance though replying site queries.

⦁ Able to perform MHRS calculations using Discipline calculation tool.

Technical Community

⦁ Participates to the Discipline related technical community,

⦁ Participates in the development of Discipline related technical standards, specifications and design criteria.

⦁ Develops knowledge in the area of responsibility through seminars, trainings and execution of various projects Competency Management

⦁ Contributes to the development and implementation of competitive solutions.

⦁ Applies technical and specialist knowledge to stay up-to-date with innovations and developments in the industry and continues to offer best practice.

⦁ In alignment with Team Manager, supports mentoring and coaching to meet current and future needs.

⦁ Contributes to the implementation of lessons learnt within the department into workflows, procedures and standards..

DOMAIN KNOWLEDGE
● Experience with various National and International codes
● Developing & reviewing the plant layout and piping design work regarding appropriate quality with project specifications.
● Implementation of all project specific norms and standards as defined in contract and Job Manual
● Developing and reviewing the Smartplant SP3D model at allocated plot area considering Safety Escape routes, maintenance, accessibility, operability and constructability of the facilities
● 3D modeling of equipment, Piping routing, steel structures, pipe racks / pipe-way, buildings, machine hall building, analyzer shelter, noise hood shelter, administrative building, control room, roads and access ways, escape routes, fire fighting using Smartplant SP3D.
● 3D modeling of process piping lines, utility piping lines, stress critical piping lines and vessel trims using Smartplant SP3D.
● Preparation of equipment layout, plot plan, piping general arrangement drawings (GAD), standard & special piping support drawings (SP3D/AutoCAD).
● Preparation and Participation in Smartplant SP3D Design Model Reviews
● Generation of civil work guide drawings, steel structural guide drawings, nozzle orientation drawings and platform & ladder drawings.
● Generation of Isometric drawings including self checking and releasing for AFC revision
● Preparing battery limit drawing as applicable
● Familiar with Underground Piping concept
● Checking the Smartplant SP3D. model for clash free model..
● Checking of Piping Deliverables like GAD, isometrics, MTO.
● Comments on Vendor Drawings including general equipment layout, civil work detail, structure, detail, sheeting, access drawing. Checking PIDs, Equipment arrangement drawings, Nozzle orientation drawings & Isometrics as per PIDs and process requirements.

● Checking battery limit / tie-in summary list and drawing as applicable.
● Checking piping arrangement drawings for pipe racks, process / utility areas and underground. Anticipation and Identification of risks and opportunities and recommend mitigations during execution
● Collaborate with the designing team to properly implement ideas to complete a given task.
● Effective Communication skills with proactive coordination to manage interdiscipline workflow.
● Ability to identify cost optimization opportunities during project execution .
● Tool proficiency - Smartplant SP3D - SP3D ,SPR, Navis work, Microstation
