Responsibilities
  • Own the payment platform implementation, product strategy, and roadmap.
  • Drive the evolution of payment experiences and optimize systems and platform capabilities that influence subscriber growth.
  • Own the full product lifecycle for the payment platform, including strategy, roadmap, prioritization, execution, and launch.
  • Drive platform capabilities that improve purchase conversion, first-payment success, renewal, subscriber retention, and long-term revenue performance.
  • Manage merchant contract negotiations, payment strategies, and alternative payments.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of consumer payment products and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and organizational leaders to align growth, performance management, and risk-management priorities and execution.
  • Survey payment industry efforts and peer competitors to identify opportunities.
  • Manage external vendors responsible for end-to-end payment operations, including processing services and technology providers, card networks, embossing and printing capabilities, and loyalty platforms.
  • Maintain visibility into industry trends, customer behaviors, new product offerings, new providers, regulatory trends, and focus areas.
  • Lead and facilitate a group that manages profitable products and services in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to create alliances and execute customer initiatives.
  • Translate business objectives and user needs into business requirements, user stories, target-state process flows, product roadmaps, and delivery artifacts for digital assets and adjacent payment initiatives.
  • Review work processes within assigned products, programs, and services and take timely action for improvement.
  • Manage vendor relationships as a business owner, including performance standards, quality, timeliness, tracking and reporting, invoicing, equipment operation, customer satisfaction, and coordination with program stakeholders.

Duke Energy cuts Eastern NC and Asheville rate increase from 15.1% to 9.3%

Duke Energy Progress has agreed to reduce its proposed rate increase for customers in eastern North Carolina and the Asheville area from 15.1% to 9.3% over two years. The average residential customer will pay an additional $9.62 per month starting January, plus $5.89 more beginning January 2028. The settlement also caps Duke's return on equity at 9.8%. This follows significant pushback from state leaders and customers after Duke Energy reported $5 billion in profits in 2025 and over $1 billion in net income last quarter. The North Carolina Utilities Commission will review the proposal starting 11 August, with a final decision expected this autumn. Duke Energy Carolinas previously lowered its rate increase to 9.5%. Both Duke utilities will merge into one by 1 January 2026.
