What You'll Do: Make a Tangible Impact
We are seeking anEngineer 2in our Bridges division to manage large and small projects primarily on the Willamette River. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment that has exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with strong project management skills that wants to grow professionally.
As an Engineer 2, you will primarily provide project management for bridge, road and other public works projects from conception to construction and ensure that project elements satisfy the needs of the many stakeholders. You will also prepare project agreement documents, establish cost estimates and budgets, review design criteria, and administer construction of project agreements. You will have a general understanding of electrical, traffic, mechanical and geo-technical disciplines.
You will:
Manage a variety of bridge and other public works projects from conception through construction and ensure that project elements satisfy the needs of our diverse stakeholders
Review design criteria and standards
Prepare and administer project agreements, develop cost estimates and budgets
Coordinate with and represent the County in various meetings with other agencies, consultants and stakeholders
Work with the County Public Information Officer to provide periodic updates of project status to the public

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil and/or structural engineering;
Professional Engineer certification in Oregon. If registered in another state, must be able to obtain an Oregon PE through reciprocity within six months of accepting position;
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience managing multiple projects; and
Valid driver's license.

Demonstrated experience with capital projects and knowledge of principles of project management including monitoring schedule, scope, and budget
Demonstrated experience preparing plans, estimates, and specifications for bridge related projects
Demonstrated experience collaborating with maintenance staff to support maintenance activities and to complete smaller projects
Clear and concise verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to problem solve collaboratively as part of a team or individually
Exhibit and support a culture of exceptional customer service, equity, and inclusiveness
Ability to work effectively in a team environment by building rapport and promoting cooperation among team members
Ability to interpret and apply federal, state and local rules, laws, standards, regulations and policies to assigned work

Type of Position:This is an hourly, union-represented position that is eligible for overtime.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, typically Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. though this is flexible. Two days remote and three days in the office.
