Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least three years of lending or member service experience is required.
  • A two-year degree in a related field or five years of credit union experience is preferred.
  • Business loan underwriting experience is preferred.
  • The employee must be able to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • The employee must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and present information effectively.
  • The employee must be able to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • The employee must be able to apply common-sense reasoning to written, oral, diagrammatic, standardized, and non-standardized situations.
  • The employee must have knowledge of the credit union core system, forms and documentation, products and services, departments, and procedures.
  • The employee must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Excel.
  • The employee must have communication, interpersonal, typing, math, computer application, product-referral, attention-to-detail, problem-solving, and professional customer-service abilities.
  • The employee must be able to operate business equipment and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must comply with Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control, Red Flag, Anti-Money Laundering, and other applicable policies.
  • The employee may be required to complete SAFE Act registration and maintain good standing if the position requires it.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for business account inquiry calls and foster new and existing business member relationships.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for business account products and services, including commercial online banking, Automated Clearing House, treasury services, payroll processing, merchant services, and marketplace applications.
  • Support business account growth and product penetration by identifying, pursuing, and following up on opportunities from new accounts, call lists, referrals, and prospecting.
  • Promote and educate members on business accounts, products, and services, and cross-sell business lending and other credit union products as appropriate.
  • Provide leads to the Business Lending Manager to support department and credit union growth.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with branches, lending departments, and service departments and provide expertise, resources, and training on business services, policies, procedures, and technology.
  • Monitor business-related supply stock at each branch location.
  • Maintain the business account portfolio, including risk ratings and account reviews.
  • Recommend improvements to competitive products, services, policies, procedures, and operational efficiencies based on member and branch-staff feedback.
  • Handle incoming and outbound calls for loan-item follow-ups and communicate loan options, alternatives, terms, pricing, costs, and process updates to businesses.
  • Gather business-loan application materials, including completed applications, personal financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports.
  • Enter loan application and cash-flow information, calculate debt-service ratios, evaluate credit and financial status, and prepare loan-analysis write-ups for the business loan committee.
  • Attend business loan committee meetings to present new requests, update pending applications, present annual reviews, and organize minutes and monthly reports.
  • Prepare loans for Commercial Alliance analysis and maintain contact to obtain recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Order and review commercial appraisals, evaluations, environmental due diligence, surveys, title insurance, and flood requests, and collect upfront fees.
  • Coordinate closing dates, prepare and review closing packages, execute closings, file mortgages and assignments of rents, and file releases after final payment.
  • Build and fund new loans in the core system and perform file maintenance for accurate reporting and system functionality.
  • Maintain the business loan portfolio, including quarterly Management Action Review updates and business loan annual reviews.
  • Send letters and follow up with business members regarding insurance, annual financial statements, balloon modifications, and lines of credit renewals.
  • Monitor, track, and rewrite balloon and line-of-credit renewals, including verifying continued qualification under current loan policies.
  • Scan and file loan documentation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments regarding business lending policies, procedures, and member support.
  • Follow sound analysis and lending procedures and comply with the PFCU Commercial Lending Policy.
  • Participate in training, conferences, educational functions, and meetings as requested by management.
  • Maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and credit union information and follow all security policies and procedures.
