Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • Strong experience with Altium Designer or a similar computer-aided design system such as KiCad, EAGLE, or Cadence is required.
  • Experience with high-speed digital electronics, embedded microcontrollers, radio-frequency components, power electronics, digital buses including CAN, SPI, UART, and I2C, and sensor integration is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing, building, and testing electronics for aerospace, defense, robotics, or automotive systems is required.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture, Altium layout, and board-level signal and power integrity design is required.
  • Familiarity with environmental design constraints including thermal conditions, electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility, shock, and vibration is required.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Own the design and manufacturing processes for custom harnesses for vehicle platforms.
  • Support the design of embedded vehicle systems including power, compute, sensing, actuation, and communication subsystems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for manufacturing issues on electrical assemblies.
  • Determine layer stackup, perform component package selection and placement, conduct routing feasibility studies, and route digital, analog, radio-frequency, and power-conversion signals on printed circuit boards.
  • Create and release documentation for printed circuit board fabrication.
  • Own schematic design, component selection, printed circuit board layout, and design reviews.
  • Manage board-level bring-up, debugging, and validation in laboratory and field-test environments.
  • Guide board-level manufacturing, testing, and assembly processes conducted in-house and by external vendors.
  • Establish test procedures for validation, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility/electrostatic discharge qualification.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or equivalent experience in avionics or high-reliability hardware systems.
  • Proven experience delivering complex, multi-board avionics or embedded systems from concept to production.
  • Familiarity with military standards for system design and qualification.
  • Experience with design for manufacture and supply-chain planning for high-mix, low-volume aerospace production.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, in-house assembly, and validation test campaigns.
  • Prior work on systems where hardware must survive extreme environments, including missiles, launch vehicles, hypersonic systems, or satellites.

Singularity Defense designs and manufactures affordable, scalable air defense systems. It focuses on ground-launched missile interceptors and handles in-house design, development, and production of all subsystems, using commercial components and an automotive-style assembly process to enable rapid, high-volume manufacturing. The interceptors are designed to detect, track, and intercept incoming drones and missiles to protect military assets and personnel. The company differentiates itself by tightly controlling subsystems, avoiding traditional defense supply chain bottlenecks, and scaling production quickly through a repeatable manufacturing line, backed by frequent flight tests. Its goal is to provide capable, cost-effective defense against inexpensive aerial threats and to secure U.S. government contracts and funding for broader defense adoption.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 stealth exit and $400 million valuation signal strong investor conviction.
  • Open roles for propulsion, fire control, and facilities show aggressive production scaling.
  • Ukrainian battlefield demand keeps pressure on allies to buy low-cost interceptors now.

What critics are saying

  • RTX, Lockheed Martin, and Anduril already dominate air defense procurement and integration.
  • No public contract awards exist yet, so revenue depends on winning Pentagon programs fast.
  • If interceptor economics fail versus cheap drones, Singularity becomes an expensive demo shop.

What makes Singularity Defense unique

  • July 14, 2026, Singularity raised $80 million led by Khosla Ventures and Felicis.
  • Its El Segundo and Gardena team builds interceptors in-house, controlling subsystems and sourcing commercial parts.
  • Frequent flight tests and automotive-style manufacturing target faster iteration than traditional defense primes.
