Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree WITH minimum three years of professional higher education experience in a student-facing and/or student support role.
  • Experience in teaching, training, and/or presenting to diverse populations.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
Responsibilities
  • Assist students with program planning, general course selection, registration, and schedule review.
  • Engage students in decision making processes and promotes appropriate and responsible choices on academic matters such as course selection and degree requirements.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources which could support their success and engagement with the campus community.
  • Counsel students on academic probation, receiving academic alerts, and/or are identified as being at risk to succeed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies.
  • Participate in SOAR days, Warhawk Preview/Admitted Days, and other campus events by presenting about the services available in the AAEC.
  • Coordinate with assigned college/departments to ensure AAEC staff are updated on curricular changes or opportunities.
  • Serve on department, division, or university committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Proactively engages students as needed.
  • Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum.
  • Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to FERPA policies.
  • Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers.
  • Participates in the campus-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college.
  • Serves as a main point of contact for students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (or enrollment in a Master’s degree program)
  • Demonstration of excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and EAB Navigate.
