Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field is required
5-8 years of relatable experience to the qualifications of this position
Competent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. Prefer SAP & Benchmark ESG knowledge
Automated manufacturing experience in high volume facility
Experience with ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO and other applicable standards
Experience interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits and evaluating performance level & circuit structure
Ability to analyze and evaluate pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
Working knowledge of equipment maintenance, inspection, and testing requirements per state requirements and best practice guidance (API, ASME, ASTM standards)
Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, occupancy classification, hazardous material inventories
Must be self-motivated with great communication skills
In the performance of the duties of this job, the employee is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

Work with engineering, operations and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities
Develop equipment safety standards where needed and continuously improve existing standards
Complete Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 and Rivian standards
Identify opportunities and suggest corrective actions for continuous improvement
Create and deliver training related to equipment and machinery safety
Work with department EHS staff to support shop as needed
Participate in learning teams, investigations, inspections, audits, etc. as needed
Develop content for employee engagement on safety topics

Role Summary

The Senior Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for technical EHS work that supports day-to-day EHS operations, as well as the operations of our internal and external customers. The EHS Senior Specialist plays a key role in protecting our people and the environment through managing EHS processes and procedures, assisting with internal auditing, driving engagement, communicating well, and educating Team Members to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for our people and contractors. The ideal candidate has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, especially in problem-solving and relationship-building. This role may also be involved in the design and specifications for new machinery and equipment related to engineering and manufacturing sites
