Stack is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated IP and Corporate Paralegal to join the Stack Legal Department. We are headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, and a candidate located there is preferred but not required; we are a flexible/remote team. The successful candidate will be a key member of a team-oriented group of Legal professionals and will be primarily responsible for managing Stack’s IP portfolio and lead all corporate paralegal matters. The team is a tight-knit collaborative group that also highly encourages independence and autonomy. What Success Looks Like:

• Experience managing IP portfolios.
• Patent Identification Process.
• Collaborate with engineers to facilitate the patent identification process.
• Prepare, review and analyze invention disclosure forms to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Patent Preparation Process:
  • Work closely with outside counsel to manage patent preparation activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of new patent applications.
  • Assist in developing strategies for responding to patent office actions.
  • Assess patent continuation and divisional strategies to maximize protection.
• Patent Diligence:
  • Assist outside counsel with Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses to assess the risk of patent infringement when launching new products or services.
  • Review third party patents for potential licensing opportunities.
  • Review competitor products for possible infringement of Assist in infringement analyses, including assessing infringement positions for existing products and potential design-arounds.
  • Assist on trademark and copyright enforcement and registration efforts.
  • Assist with drafting corporate governance documents, including board minutes, resolutions, corporate registers and powers of attorney, etc.
  • Manage state qualifications and filings to maintain compliance in all jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, compliance, people operations, business operations, tax, and various senior leaders.
  • Manage and organize the Legal department’s document repository and intranet website.
  • Provide day-to-day support, including any administerial tasks, to our legal team.
  • At least 3+ years of previous corporate paralegal experience (ideally both law firm and in-house experience, but not required).
  • Experience working with inventors and completing invention disclosure forms.
  • Computer science or engineering background a plus, but not required.
  • Admitted to practice in front of the U.S. Patent Office a plus, but not required.
  • Experienced Notary Public or willingness to become a Notary Public, a plus.
  • Motivated, persistent, resourceful, curious, and eager to learn.
  • Project management skills and a keen attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a team-player attitude.
