MAJOR PURPOSE:

The Lead, Engineering for the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) is responsible for assisting with oversight of the maintenance techs during their shifts.  The Lead, Engineering will assist with ensuring team members are completing work orders and assigned projects in a timely and efficient manner while following all facility guidelines and completing tasks assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist Engineering Manager with the monitoring of all the daily operations of the Engineering department, including the daily maintenance of the facility, preventative maintenance along with facility projects.
• Support Engineering Manager by proving leadership to team and substituting for Engineering Manager as needed.
• Ensure that work orders and preventative maintenance are being completed in a timely manner.

• Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions, identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
• Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs; replace light bulbs, ballasts, and fuses.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC system, changing filters, bearings.
• Operate a variety of machinery, equipment and tools including saws, router, drills, sanders, planers, drill presses and various hand tools.
• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; recommend tools, and equipment for purchase.
• Perform a variety of locksmith duties; install, repair, and replace locks on doors.
• Inspect, service, and maintain operational functionality of doors and windows.
• Basic ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, or oral instruction on a variety of structures related to the construction project.
• Install or replace plugs, switches, outlets
• Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are enforced in the department.
• Motivate team members and resolve any issues that occur on the job.
• Respond to customer complaints and special requests.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Engineering.

REQUIREMENTS:

• The preferred candidate will have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training
• A minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience is preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented.
• Must be flexible to adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments.
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Candidate must be a self-starter who will work as a team player and be able to work independently.
• Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
