Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis on water resources.
  • Five to ten years of experience in water resources design, with an emphasis on roadway drainage design and stormwater quality design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such as CUHP, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CulvertMaster, HY8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, SewerGEMS, and EPA SWMM.
  • Experience with client contact and project coordination.
  • A Professional Engineer license is required in Colorado.
Responsibilities
  • Design roadway drainage, including hydrology and hydraulics for roadside ditches, curb and gutter sections, complex storm sewer systems with utility conflicts, storm sewer retrofits, and coordination with existing downstream systems.
  • Design stormwater quality and detention systems, including post-construction stormwater quality control measures recommended by CDOT and MHFD, construction control measures for sediment and erosion control, and MS4 permit requirements.
  • Perform bridge and culvert hydraulic analyses, including sizing proposed structures, analyzing existing structures, conducting scour analyses, designing scour protection for minor to major outfalls, and designing scour countermeasures for bridges.
  • Perform floodplain analyses using HEC-RAS 1D and 2D to support floodplain development permit applications, and prepare Conditional Letter of Map Revision and Letter of Map Revision applications for FEMA.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering design software to prepare plans, profiles, details, quantity tabulations, construction costs, reports, and specifications.
  • Support construction projects by reviewing submittals, answering requests for information, and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with preparing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and proposals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with two-dimensional modeling using SMS/SRH-2D and/or HEC-RAS 2D.
  • Experience with CDOT.
  • Knowledge and experience in stream restoration and stabilization.
  • A master's degree in civil engineering.
