Requirements
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Candidates must reside in or near Jackson, Mississippi, or Baton Rouge, Louisiana, within the assigned Southeast territory.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field is strongly preferred, or equivalent experience working in the renewables industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications is required.
  • The candidate must occasionally work nonstandard business hours and nonstandard schedules to support service customer contracts.
  • The candidate must be able to travel significantly domestically and possibly internationally.
  • The candidate must routinely lift up to 50 pounds and work in field-service conditions with occasional electrical hazards and extreme weather exposure.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with and perform warranty repairs and commissioning of SMA utility inverters in the field.
  • Assist with commissioning, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze SMA utility inverters through email, telephone, and site visits.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of SMA utility inverter products, associated SMA accessories, and third-party accessories sold for use with the inverters.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts of spare parts provided by SMA.
  • Work regularly with high-voltage direct current electricity, three-phase power, and inverter software and firmware.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction while working to reduce field-service costs.
  • Assist with, perform, and maintain site maintenance activities in accordance with SMA product maintenance manuals and customer contractual obligations.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout the Southeast region.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the renewable energy industry is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of solar and/or alternative energy markets is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code is preferred.
