Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of supervisory experience are required; successful completion of GGW’s Aspiring Managers and Employ Excellence may substitute for this requirement.
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing is required.
  • Reading and math skills at or above an 11th-grade skill level are required.
  • The ability to bend and lift 40–50 pounds frequently is required.
  • The ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift, is required.
  • Previous cashier experience is required.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the store manager with the overall operation of the retail store.
  • Assist the store manager with compliance and enforcement of company policies and standards.
  • Perform daily administrative and clerical functions of store operations and cash transactions.
  • Monitor sales transactions associated with purchases and ensure proper sales procedures are followed by store associates.
  • Maintain the general appearance of the store and premises according to Goodwill standards.
  • Assist with enforcing store safety and security procedures.
  • Assist in settling customer complaints.
  • Provide input for associate interviews and performance evaluations.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Open and close the store as necessary.
  • Assist in supervising and training retail associates.
  • Assist during interviews and instruct workers to develop their full working potential.
  • Assist with maintaining proper staffing levels.
  • Assist with monitoring the time and attendance system.
  • Supervise retail staff, including donation attendants, processors, and sales associates.

  • Previous experience working in a retail department store environment.
  • The ability to coach and direct employees.
  • The ability to adapt gracefully to periodic and rapid change.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
