Job Description
MUSC Health – Orangeburg is seeking a dedicated Family Medicine Physician with interest in Occupational Health to join our team at a rural primary care clinic. This role is ideal for a compassionate and community-oriented medical professional who is committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services to a diverse population in a rural setting.
About the opportunity:
- Provide comprehensive primary care services, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care management.
- Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications.
- Develop and manage effective treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases prevalent in rural areas.
- Offer guidance on disease prevention and health maintenance.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
- Conduct Workers’ Compensation assessments and manage related cases.
- Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examinations as a certified medical examiner.
Qualifications:
- MD/DO with board certification in Family Medicine
- Board certification in Occupational Medicine preferred but not required.
- Comfort or willingness to manage Workers’ Compensation cases.
- Certified or obtain certification as a DOT Medical Examiner within 6 months of hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build rapport with patients and industry clients.
- Strong commitment to health care excellence in a rural setting.

Since it was first established in 1919, MUSC Health - Orangeburg has grown from a small private hospital into a robust regional health care system. MUSC Health – Orangeburg’s network now includes a 286-bed acute care hospital in Orangeburg, a breast center with mobile mammography capabilities, Bamberg-Barnwell Emergency Medical Center, Express Care locations in Orangeburg and Santee, seven primary care clinics, and fifteen specialty practices located throughout Orangeburg, Bamberg and Calhoun counties.
