Responsibilities
  • Own and drive business captures, capture excellence, and governance.
  • Establish a high-performing organization capable of growing a portfolio of quantum sensing opportunities.
  • Define, mature, and enforce the capture operating model, including roles, responsibilities, gate criteria, capture artifacts, approval authorities, and handoff expectations.
  • Lead or oversee capture strategy development for significant opportunities, including win themes, discriminators, customer engagement strategy, customer value, competitive assessment, technical and program solution shaping, pricing posture, teaming strategy, and execution-risk posture.
  • Support bid/no-bid, rough-order-of-magnitude, proposal, and investment decisions for QSS opportunities within delegated authority and company approval processes.
  • Ensure awarded programs enter execution with documented technical, cost, schedule, contractual, staffing, supplier, and customer baselines or assumptions.
  • Work with Business Area Vice Presidents and staff to shape opportunity priorities, capture strategy, customer engagement, teaming approach, and major subcontractor strategies.
  • Ensure proposal technical, management, schedule, pricing, and cost elements align with the approved capture strategy and execution-risk posture.
  • Support customer negotiations, clarifications, best-and-final-offer activities, and final proposal revisions through contract award.
  • Serve as the senior leadership interface for capture priorities, business opportunity health, gate-review outcomes, and capture-phase forecast content.
  • Partner with Business Area Vice Presidents to deliver bookings consistent with the QSS Operating Plan.
  • Partner with Program Execution, Engineering, Finance, Contracts, Legal, Supply Chain, Quality, Business Development, and Business Area Vice Presidents to ensure proposal assumptions, customer commitments, risk posture, and program baselines are understood and executable.
  • Drive capture lessons learned and feedback loops into Business Development, capture, proposal, and program execution processes.
  • Maintain an interface with the centralized enterprise Business Development function to transition opportunities into the QSS capture phase.
  • Lead executive-level proposal reviews for strategic or high-value opportunities.
  • Represent QSS capture posture in internal executive reviews, corporate growth discussions, and selected external engagements.
  • Lead staffing, process definition, training, performance management, and functional management for Advanced Systems Manager capture-management talent.
  • Assign Advanced Systems Managers to qualified opportunities based on strategic importance, customer alignment, technical complexity, competitive landscape, resource availability, and execution risk.
  • Manage and maintain the QSS business opportunity database for capture-phase opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly QSS capture-phase opportunity forecast with Business Area Vice Presidents, Finance/FP&A, Business Development, and Program Execution.
  • Define forecast data structures, reporting cadence, data quality expectations, and integration points with Business Development-phase and execution-phase portfolio data.
  • Provide capture-phase inputs to the QSS Annual Operating Plan, monthly reforecasts, business reviews, and Board-level reporting.
  • Track capture budget allocations and cost, schedule, resources, risks, win probability, proposal readiness, customer milestones, and key decision points across the QSS capture portfolio.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience involving advanced technologies, government customers, and cross-functional proposal teams.
  • Experience in quantum sensing, photonics, radio frequency systems, precision navigation and timing, inertial sensing, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, space systems, or other deep-tech national security, civil, or commercial markets.
  • Existing customer, partner, or industry relationships across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, NASA, aerospace primes, defense primes, or relevant commercial technology markets.
  • Direct experience with OTA, SBIR/STTR, CRADA, BAAs, FAR/DFARS contracts, cost-share arrangements, and other traditional and non-traditional acquisition mechanisms.
  • Experience building or scaling capture organizations, gated capture processes, opportunity databases, business operating rhythms, and portfolio forecasting systems.
  • Experience in small or mid-sized defense, aerospace, or deep-tech companies transitioning from bespoke research and development programs toward larger recurring programs, production, or standard-product portfolios.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, government contracting compliance, export control, security requirements, and program execution governance.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.

Japan launches first neutral-atom quantum computer 'Shunkai' with Infleqtion

Infleqtion has helped launch Japan's first operational neutral-atom quantum computer, called "Shunkai", in collaboration with Professor Kenji Ohmori's research team at the Institute for Molecular Science. The company was the only foreign quantum partner selected by the Japan Science and Technology Agency for its Quantum Moonshot programme. Infleqtion contributed its quantum processing unit to the project. The system initially operates with approximately 50 qubits, with plans to scale to around 500 qubits as development progresses. The next phase of the project, which started in April 2026, aims to develop a high-performance neutral-atom fault-tolerant quantum computer with up to 10,000 physical qubits. The system is expected to be made available to external users to support application development and advance quantum error correction research across academia and industry.

Neutral-atom quantum computing firm Infleqtion plans to test a quantum sensing system in Colorado in 2027 that could help locate critical mineral deposits underground before exploration companies spend heavily on drilling. The company says its quantum gravity gradiometry (QGG) technology can detect extremely small variations in Earth's gravitational field. Those changes can reveal differences in underground density and geological structures that may point to potential mineral deposits. The planned field demonstration will test whether the technology can provide useful subsurface information earlier in the mineral exploration process. Infleqtion is evaluating several possible sites in Colorado's Third Congressional District, with the final location and timing still to be announced. If successful, the approach could give exploration teams another way to narrow down promising areas before bringing in drilling equipment. That matters because finding and developing domestic sources of critical minerals can be expensive, time-consuming, and uncertain. Quantum sensing sees underground. QGG works by measuring tiny changes in gravity caused by variations in the density of material beneath the ground. Different geological formations produce different gravitational signatures, allowing sensors to build a picture of what may be below the surface. The technology does not replace drilling or existing geological surveys. Instead, Infleqtion says it could be used alongside established geological and geophysical techniques to identify areas that deserve closer investigation.
