Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED plus 3–5 years of experience in the construction trades is required.
  • Inspection-related certifications are required, including Certified Welding Inspector certification.
  • The candidate must be able to use inspection tools such as a Gal-Gauge, Pick Gauge, Hi-Lo Gauge, and Filler Gauge.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret ISO drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and red-line ISO drawings.
  • The candidate must be able to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures.
  • The candidate must have exposure to civil, electrical, mechanical, pipeline/oil and gas, industrial, and welding activities.
  • The candidate must be able to independently perform piping system walkdowns, structural walkdowns, and civil inspections.
  • The candidate must be able to write daily reports and document project activities.
  • The candidate must be able to collect and record field data to verify conformance with corporate quality-control procedures and implement the quality-control program for assigned project tasks.
  • The candidate must be able to solve problems independently and in a team setting.
  • The candidate must be able to sit for prolonged periods while working on a computer, stand for extended periods, walk the property and laydown yards, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect materials, equipment, and installations to determine their conformance with project specifications.
  • Inspect project activities on a 12-mile pipeline construction project, including excavations, concrete, rebar, photovoltaic installation, underground utilities, welding, piping, valves, and other equipment.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the construction codes used for the project.
  • Conduct daily quality-control activities in an organized manner and ensure quality-control data is accurately recorded.
  • Monitor and record work daily as required by the Quality Inspection Test Plan.
  • Perform pre-construction quality-control inspections with field operating teams to prevent deficiencies.
  • Detect deficiencies and address them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Inspect work and establish punch lists.
  • Ensure daily quality-task schedules are met in support of the project schedule.
  • Work with the client and field quality staff as their field representative to ensure construction personnel understand and follow quality-assurance and quality-control requirements.
  • Interface with field supervision to maintain communication regarding quality activities.
  • Interact cross-functionally with craft personnel and other team members.
  • Maintain complete and accurate inspection records for transfer to permanent hard-copy or electronic files.
  • Determine the calibration status of measuring and test equipment.
  • Promote and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Generate daily and weekly reports of inspection conditions, notify management of significant problems, and complete documentation attesting to satisfactory inspection or test completion.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and perform other assigned duties.
