Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or 10 years of work experience, is required.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • The employee must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 0–25 pounds and occasionally handle objects weighing 25–50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to perform frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, vision and depth perception, hearing and oral communication, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and grip, and rarely climb.
Responsibilities
  • Assist customers by answering phones and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Assist laboratory staff by collecting, labeling, processing, and preserving blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Enter, access, and execute laboratory orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory supplies and the work area.
  • Update statistical records, label tubes, and schedule processing runs as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomy and waived testing as needed.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
