Data Quality Analyst

The Team
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Data Quality Analyst to join our dynamic data team in the telecommunications industry. This role involves ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across our Microsoft Azure, Power BI, and Databricks platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality data standards, identify and resolve data issues, and support key decision-making processes within the organization.
 

Role Expectations

• Data Quality Monitoring: Continuously monitor and assess the quality of data within Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, and Databricks environments.

• Data Profiling & Cleansing: Perform data profiling to identify inconsistencies, errors, and anomalies in large data sets; execute data cleansing processes to ensure data quality.

• Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business intelligence teams to implement and enforce data quality standards across the Azure and Databricks ecosystems.

• Azure Integration: Develop and maintain processes for monitoring data flows between Azure services, ensuring that data from various sources (e.g., CRM, network systems, customer data) is accurate and accessible.

• Power BI Dashboards: Support the creation of high-quality Power BI dashboards by ensuring that underlying data is accurate and clean, and that it adheres to defined data governance practices.

• Data Validation: Set up automated data validation checks, monitoring tools, and alerting systems within Databricks and Azure to catch data quality issues in real time.

• Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations to identify the root causes of data discrepancies, working with the data engineering team to implement long-term solutions.

• Data Governance: Ensure compliance with internal data governance standards and industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) by enforcing data quality rules across the organization.

• Reporting & Documentation: Produce detailed reports on data quality metrics, trends, and issues, and document data quality issues and resolutions within the team’s knowledge base.

Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in a data quality, data analysis, or data governance role, preferably within the telecommunications or technology industry.

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Data Factory.

• Proficiency in Databricks for data processing, transformation, and analysis.

• Extensive experience with data profiling, data cleansing, and implementing data quality processes.

• Solid understanding of Power BI for reporting and data visualization, with the ability to ensure that dashboards reflect high-quality, reliable data.

• Experience with SQL for querying large datasets, identifying anomalies, and ensuring data quality.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex data issues.

• Familiarity with cloud-based data architecture and ETL processes.

• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance standards relevant to telecommunications and cloud data (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure Machine Learning or Azure Synapse Analytics is a plus.

• Understanding of telecommunications industry-specific data (e.g., billing systems, network performance data, customer usage data).

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in Agile/Scrum teams.

• Certifications in data quality, data governance, or relevant Azure or Databricks certifications.

• Experience with Python or Scala for data manipulation in Databricks is a plus.
