Requirements
  • A bachelor-level college degree or equivalent experience and skill is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in social or recreation programming is required, including three years of full-time leadership experience in a health care setting.
Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and training for Life Engagement team members and oversee an ongoing activities program designed around residents’ interests and well-being.
  • Direct the Life Engagement Department, perform administrative requirements, coordinate with other departments and organizations, standardize work methods, and delegate responsibility.
  • Develop individualized socialization and therapeutic programs and communicate the benefits of activities to residents, families, and staff.
  • Interview residents and families, involve them in care planning, attend weekly care conferences, complete assessments and MDS and CAA documentation, review care plans and nurses’ notes, and participate in discharge planning.
  • Maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations, review department policies and procedures, recommend program changes, and develop correction plans for deficiencies identified during surveys.
  • Assist with community programs and trips and coordinate transportation with Campus Services.
  • Recruit, interview, select, schedule, delegate, supervise, discipline, and terminate Life Engagement Department personnel when necessary.
  • Plan and participate in in-service and leadership training with the Director of Community Life.
  • Forecast department needs, maintain expenditure records, adjust spending to the approved budget, and complete financial records and cost reports.
  • Manage the Icon resident portal, including the resident app and Family App.
  • Plan and implement a Healthcare Volunteer Program, including recruiting and maintaining a Resident Volunteer Program.
  • Coordinate monthly activity calendars, develop family outreach programs, coordinate resident council meeting minutes, and ensure timely content for the department newsletter.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree in Recreational Management, Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy, or Health and Wellness Management is preferred.
