  • Ability to follow HIPAA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, infection control, medical records compliance, and other safety requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Answer telephones, greet patients, pull, update, and file patient medical records, verify patient demographic and insurance information, schedule appointments, and perform billing and bookkeeping.
  • Check in patients, assist with patient histories, verify the accuracy of patient information, prepare charts, chaperone or assist providers during examinations and other patient care activities, and perform billing and general medical office procedures according to clinic protocols.
  • Educate and advise patients on specified medical issues within established guidelines and assist with scheduling, coding, and billing medical or ambulatory surgical procedures.
  • Arrange examining-room equipment, clean rooms, escort patients to and from assigned rooms, dispose of contaminated supplies, and maintain clinic stocks of medical supplies and medications as appropriate.
  • Practice safety, environmental, and infection-control methods.
