Requirements
  • A current food handlers card is required, or it must be obtained within 30 days of hire through StateFoodSafety.com, ServSafe from the National Restaurant Association, or the local County Health Department.
  • Person in Charge training provided through the County Health Department must be completed as established by the department.
  • The employee must be able to push a fully loaded tray cart weighing approximately 250 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • The employee must enter isolation-precaution patient rooms using proper protective equipment.
  • The employee must understand written and oral communication.
  • The employee must use basic computer components, including a keyboard, mouse, and tablet, and basic applications such as Microsoft Word.
  • The employee must use speaker phones and headsets and follow telephone etiquette.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare assigned work areas for operation, including filling buckets with sanitizing solution and maintaining sanitizer strength throughout the shift.
  • Set up assigned areas with utensils, restock supplies, and clean and organize the area throughout the shift.
  • Produce and maintain attractive, appetizing, and quality food and beverage products.
  • Follow the menu cycle, use proper portions and standardized recipes, prepare food items in batch production, and use leftovers according to the first-in, first-out method.
  • Greet customers, take orders, and serve customers efficiently while maintaining focus on customer service.
  • Address customer complaints professionally and seek management assistance when needed.
  • Clean spills promptly, post appropriate caution signage, and remove trash from service areas.
  • Maintain clean, uncluttered, attractive, and orderly merchandising areas.
  • Ensure activities meet departmental sanitation, safety, and quality-control guidelines.
  • Document refrigerator, dish-machine, and other equipment temperatures as assigned and alert facilities and management about malfunctioning equipment.
  • Operate, clean, and store equipment properly in the assigned area.
  • Store and label food items and chemicals properly.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver food and service to patients and customers.
