Requirements
  • The candidate must hold a current Registered Nurse license from the State Board of Nursing.
  • The candidate must be able to lead and motivate subordinates.
  • The candidate must be able to perform varied duties in a frequently changing work schedule.
  • The candidate must be able to work closely with residents, physicians, and staff.
  • The candidate must be capable of working to prescribed nursing standards.
  • The candidate must have good interpersonal and communication skills and an interest in performing a service.
Responsibilities
  • Receive reports on patient or resident status from the previous shift and communicate this information to the oncoming shift.
  • Make physical rounds in the assigned area, assess quality of care, provide interventions, and interact with caregivers and patients or residents.
  • Provide direct nursing care, assess patient conditions, communicate with attending physicians or practitioners, and perform nursing functions according to patient needs.
  • Assist in establishing patient care plans based on individual needs and physician orders.
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team.
  • Accurately document patient or resident conditions, assessments, communications, and care provided.
  • Provide or supervise care activities such as medication administration, nursing care, documentation, and treatments.
  • Evaluate the performance of nurses, nursing assistants, and trained medication aides, and coach or discipline them as needed.
  • Assess and monitor whether patient or resident needs are met and policies and procedures are followed.
  • Respond to and coordinate actions during emergency situations when required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement Program initiatives.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Communicate empathetically with families and patients or residents about changes in condition and care concerns, and ensure resident rights are respected.
  • Travel to any center within the region or company as required.
  • Work overtime, including double shifts, when required.
