- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A Vocational, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or another nursing program meeting Registered Nurse licensure requirements is required.
- An active Registered Nurse license in the State of Kansas is required.
- A Kansas or Missouri driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
- Employees in applicable positions must provide immunization, immunity, medical contraindication, religious objection, or vaccination documentation for MMR, TDAP, and Varicella within 60 days of hire.
- Employees may be called upon to assist other departments during a declared emergency situation.
- Provide comprehensive nursing services and assess individuals’ holistic needs, including family and environmental factors.
- Collect and document patient health histories, measure and record vital signs, complete health assessments, and perform limited examinations.
- Manage, control, and implement medication administration programs and administer psychotropic injectable medications.
- Complete and submit documentation regarding patient care and condition.
- Review the quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers.
- Provide patients and families with supportive resources and educate patients about health, wellness, and daily living activities.
- Develop and provide specialized health training and education to staff.
- Provide case management, care coordination, referrals, and follow-up to individuals and families.
- Evaluate care-plan outcomes and effectiveness, making changes as necessary.
- One year of nursing experience is preferred.

Johnson County earns "Triple Crown" award for financial reporting. July 30, 2026 Johnson County has earned its first "Triple Crown" award from the Government Finance Officers' Association. The award recognizes governments that secure three different honors from the organization representing public finance officers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Johnson County's recognitions include: * A Certificate of Achievement for its 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. This distinction is reserved for a select group of governments, with only about 20% of counties nationwide earning the distinction. It is the 38th consecutive year that Johnson County has earned this recognition. * An Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its 2024 Popular Annual Financial Report. The PAFR provides an accessible summary of the county's financial condition, aiming to improve transparency and readability for constituents and stakeholders. * The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 Adopted Capital and Operating Budget, which recognizes local governments that prepare budget documents of the highest quality that reflect established industry guidelines and best practices. Johnson County is one of only 441 local governments to receive all three honors and earn this year's Triple Crown recognition from the GFOA. This is the first year that Johnson County received the award for its Popular Annual Financial Report, which highlights priorities of the Board of County Commissioners, accomplishments, economic and demographic data and features numerous charts and graphs to assist those without a finance background.
