Fife Council’s Litigation Team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor to provide legal support to Fife Council in litigation matters, including child protection, permanence, adults with incapacity, adult support and protection, mental health, education, housing, debt recovery and employment.
You will be part of the Litigation Team who undertake a range of litigation services to client services across the council, responsible for managing your own case load and representing the council in a variety of matters.
The Property and Contracts Team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed solicitor to provide legal support in property matters, including conveyancing, commercial leasing, compulsory purchase orders, procurement and Common Good.
The team also covers, freedom of information, contracts, public procurement and data protection to assist the council in delivering the aims in Plan4Fife. There will be opportunities and support to apply any existing knowledge or experience, or to develop new skills, in these areas.
The two temporary posts are for a period of 12 months each to cover maternity leave.
Both roles provide an excellent opportunity to combine a fulfilling and challenging role within a supportive team environment whilst gaining experience of the workings of local government and its legal affairs.
As a progressive employer, we offer a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations, meetings, court and Tribunal appearances as required.
These posts are ideally suited to candidates with experience in general Litigation (with a particular interest in employment law) and/or with experience in conveyancing and general property matters. Experience in all the above areas is not essential, but a willingness to develop in those areas would be highly desirable.
You should hold a Law Degree (LLB) and a Diploma in Legal Practice or an equivalent. You also should be a qualified solicitor holding, or eligible to hold, an unrestricted Practicing Certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland, be able to work under limited supervision with well-developed communication and IT skills.
