Requirements
  • Hold a Law Degree (LLB) and a Diploma in Legal Practice or an equivalent qualification.
  • Be a qualified solicitor holding, or eligible to hold, an unrestricted Practicing Certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland.
  • Be able to work under limited supervision with well-developed communication and IT skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support to Fife Council in litigation matters including child protection, permanence, adults with incapacity, adult support and protection, mental health, education, housing, debt recovery and employment.
  • Represent the council in a variety of matters as part of the Litigation Team and manage your own caseload.
  • Provide legal support in property matters including conveyancing, commercial leasing, compulsory purchase orders, procurement and Common Good.
  • Assist with freedom of information, contracts, public procurement and data protection to support Plan4Fife objectives.
  • Travel to attend office locations, meetings, court and Tribunal appearances as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in general Litigation, with particular interest in employment law and/or experience in conveyancing and general property matters.
  • Willingness to develop in the above areas.
