  • Advanced proficiency in Python with deep experience in object-oriented design, design patterns, and building production-grade frameworks and libraries.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing software and data-architecture optimizations to resolve performance and scalability constraints (e.g., profiling-driven optimization, algorithmic improvements, memory/IO reduction, query/data-layout optimization, caching, and efficient parallelization).
  • Strong working knowledge of NumPy and Pandas for numerical computing and data manipulation.
  • Demonstrated experience with test-driven development and building systems with rigorous unit, integration, and regression test coverage (e.g., pytest, unittest).
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to reason about complex model behavior and data flows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to operate as a self-starter: taking ambiguous or partially specified problems and driving them through to well-defined technical solutions.
  • Proficiency with LLM-based coding tools and a track record of leveraging AI assistants to meaningfully increase development productivity and code quality.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain the core Python frameworks and libraries that power Nova, ensuring they are performant, extensible, and easy for model developers to integrate with.
  • Develop and enhance the calculation engine and related tooling for loan loss forecasting models, supporting CECL, IFRS 9, CCAR, ICAAP, and Risk Appetite requirements.

  • Take partially specified problems and business needs from stakeholders and translate them into concrete technical requirements, designs, and implementation plans.
  • Leverage LLM-based coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development velocity, drive code quality, and maximize team productivity.
  • Perform peer code reviews with a focus on correctness, performance, maintainability, and adherence to team standards.
  • Prepare clear and thorough technical documentation covering design decisions, implementation details, and testing strategies.
  • Partner with model developers, product and business stakeholders during the implementation, testing, and operationalization of forecasting processes.
  • Present regular updates on development progress, technical decisions, and platform roadmap to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Investigate and debug counter-intuitive observations in model forecasts, performing root-cause analysis at the framework and data level.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with DuckDB or similar in-process analytical databases for high-performance data querying and transformation.
  • Knowledge of credit risk concepts including Wholesale Credit, CCAR/DFAST stress testing, CECL/IFRS 9 allowance, and Basel III regulatory capital.

Wall Street's biggest banks pour billions into AI with mixed results on returns

Wall Street's largest banks are investing billions in AI, though questions persist about returns on these massive expenditures. JPMorgan leads with a nearly $20 billion annual technology budget, claiming its $2 billion AI investment has already matched costs in savings. The bank tracks how its engineers use AI tools and has deployed its proprietary platform to over 200,000 employees. Goldman Sachs spent $6 billion on technology this year, whilst announcing AI-driven efficiency measures that will slow hiring and reduce some roles. Citigroup takes a bottom-up approach with 4,000 employees trained as AI stewards, reporting nearly 90% staff usage of AI tools. Wells Fargo and Bank of America are also deploying AI across operations, from wealth advisory to code development. Morgan Stanley's partnership with OpenAI saved developers over 280,000 hours in the first half of last year. Despite widespread adoption, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon noted banks don't "uniquely benefit from AI" since everyone now uses it.

JPMorgan values Knicks at $11.75B after Lakers deal sets NBA franchise record

JPMorgan has valued the New York Knicks at $11.75 billion following a record Lakers transaction, creating a notable gap with Madison Square Garden Sports' market capitalisation of approximately $9.8 billion. The comparison is significant because MSG Sports owns both the Knicks and the NHL's New York Rangers. The valuation follows an agreement by Bob Iger and Joshua Kushner to acquire the Lakers at $12.5 billion. JPMorgan analyst David Karnovsky cited the Lakers as the most relevant comparison for the Knicks given their large media market and similar revenue structure. MSG Sports' fourth-quarter revenue rose 37% to $278.7 million, driven by playoff revenue, league distributions and sponsorship. However, the Knicks are not currently for sale, meaning the elevated valuation does not directly translate to shareholder value.

JPMorgan raises Microsoft price target to $625, sees up to $41B Copilot revenue by 2027

JPMorgan analyst Samik Chatterjee raised his December 2027 price target for Microsoft to $625 from $550 on 13 August, maintaining an Overweight rating. The target implies roughly 30% upside from Microsoft's trading price of approximately $492. The upgrade follows Microsoft's strong fourth-quarter results on 29 July, which sent the stock up more than 27%. Azure grew 43% in constant currency, crossing $100 billion, whilst Intelligent Cloud revenue hit $39.3 billion, up 32%. Chatterjee estimates Copilot could add between $24 billion and $41 billion in revenue. GitHub Copilot alone has 50 million users. The analyst expects Azure growth to accelerate as AI infrastructure spending rises, with margins stabilising as buildout matures. JPMorgan's target sits below Wells Fargo's $700 Street-high but above the 34-analyst average of $564.49.

JPMorgan raises Microsoft price target to $625 on accelerating Azure and Copilot adoption

JPMorgan has raised its price target for Microsoft to $625 by December 2027, up from $550, maintaining an Overweight rating. Analyst Samik Chatterjee cited accelerating Azure growth and expanding Copilot adoption as evidence that Microsoft's AI infrastructure investment is translating into higher-value software revenue. Microsoft reported strong recent performance, with Azure and cloud services revenue jumping 43% year-over-year in the fiscal fourth quarter. Microsoft Cloud revenue reached $59.3 billion, up 27%, whilst Microsoft 365 Copilot now has over 30 million paid seats. The company spent $41 billion on capital expenditures during the quarter, with roughly two-thirds directed towards CPUs and GPUs. Chatterjee estimates Copilot could ultimately generate between $24 billion and $41 billion in revenue, approximately seven times current estimates.
