Requirements
  • Strong Linux administration experience across major distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, or CentOS.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Group Policy, and file services.
  • Experience supporting macOS workstations in professional environments.
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, virtual local area networks, routing, switching, virtual private networks, firewalls, and Domain Name System troubleshooting.
  • Experience with shared storage, network-attached storage/storage area network systems, permissions, snapshots, replication, and backup workflows.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or Nutanix.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across systems, networks, storage, and endpoints.
  • Strong documentation and ticketing discipline.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite throughout Greater Los Angeles as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for GPL’s Los Angeles-based clients.
  • Design, deploy, and support infrastructure for studios, post-production companies, creative agencies, and enterprise clients.
  • Administer Linux, Windows, and macOS environments.
  • Support shared storage platforms, high-performance workstations, creative workflows, and production networks.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues across servers, storage, networks, endpoints, and applications.
  • Support Active Directory, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, virtual private networks, firewalls, and identity systems.
  • Manage virtualization environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or Nutanix.
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, patching, and security hardening to comply with industry standards and prepare clients for routine audits.
  • Create clear documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and client environment notes.
  • Work closely with account managers, project managers, engineering leadership, and field engineers.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and communicate clearly with clients during outages or production-impacting events.
  • Help reduce single-person dependencies by creating repeatable systems, standards, and documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Managed service provider experience.
  • Media and entertainment, post-production, visual effects, animation, editorial, or creative studio experience.
  • Experience with Qumulo, Dell PowerScale/Isilon, TrueNAS, NetApp, or similar storage platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid, DaVinci Resolve, Autodesk tools, render farms, or production pipeline environments.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Experience with monitoring, remote monitoring and management, mobile device management, endpoint protection, and backup platforms.
  • Cloud experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
