What you’ll be doing...

The work you'll be doing as a test Engineer for Verizon's SDN Planning team is testing and automation pipelines and other tooling for the infrastructure. You will be testing a highly reliable infrastructure running critical network functions.

• Developing and maintaining test environments and infrastructure.

• Monitoring network performance and identify potential issues.

• Contributing to the continuous improvement of our QE processes.

• Documenting test plans, test cases, and test results.

• Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and product management.

• Thoroughly understanding the Architecture, workflow of core Telecom Wireline, Fiber, Ethernet backhaul technologies

• Interacting with product management, software/hardware development team, and System & Technology to understand customer and product requirements

• Assisting in development of automated test environments and QA strategies

• Driving, executing and coordinating the test activities with vendors for issue resolution, config / template redesign etc. 

• Designing, developing, and executing comprehensive regression test suites for network elements and services, including functional, performance, and stability testing.

• Automating test cases and contribute to the development of our test automation framework.

• Collaborating with developers to reproduce and resolve bugs.

• Participating in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality.

What we’re looking for…

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer to join our team, focusing on Quality Engineering (QE) regression testing and operational support within our telecom/networking domain. This role will be critical in ensuring the reliability and performance of our network infrastructure and services. You will work closely with development, operations, and other QE engineers to design, develop, and execute test plans, identify and resolve issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes. You will also leverage your operations experience to provide support and troubleshooting for production systems.

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

• Four or more years of relevant work experience.

• Four or more years of testing experience in Networking domain.

• Proficient in Platform and Protocols testing of various Networking and Routing Protocols, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP/OSPF, IS-IS, QoS, L1-L2-L3 protocols, Optical Networks (OTN), for Transport Backhaul of Wireline and Wireless network.

• Proficient in Manual and automated Regression, Functional, and E2E testing, and later Automation testing across multiple products and vendor domains

• Strong analytical skills, work closely with development teams to triage failures, bug analysis

• Possess good understanding of Linux virtualisation, containerisation, Cloud technologies

• Knowledge of Agile Processes and DevOps - CI/CD, GitOps, Jenkins, and other test tools

• Experience in analysing test results, identifying root causes of defects, and reporting issues clearly and concisely.

 Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Experience with a high-performance, high-availability environment.

• Experience with Network technologies like SDN/NFV

• Strong analytical, debugging skills.

• Good communication and presentation skills.

• Relevant certifications.
