Requirements
  • Active registered nurse or licensed practical nurse licensure is required, with registered nurse licensure preferred.
  • A vocational degree, Associate of Science in Nursing, or equivalent nursing education is required.
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a healthcare field and one to three years of review experience is required.
  • Current knowledge of review processes and clinical practices related to review processes is required.
  • Registered nurse or Bachelor of Science in Nursing credentials are preferred.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software programs operating in a Windows environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of Review Operations, including nurse reviewers and prior authorization requests in assigned areas, to meet contract deliverables.
  • Assist with meeting Review Department contract deliverables within budgetary parameters.
  • Assure the accuracy and timeliness of applicable review-type cases within contract requirements.
  • Assess, evaluate, and address daily workload and queues, and adjust work schedules to meet department workload demands.
  • Analyze nurse reviewer productivity.
  • Identify Clinical Reviewers' orientation and continuous-learning needs and collaborate with the Manager, Operations, to develop and implement plans addressing those needs.
  • Perform quality-monitoring activities, including identifying improvement areas and implementing improvement plans through quarterly audits, QIP, database management, and assistance with IRR.
  • Maintain current knowledge of review processes and related clinical practices and serve as the initial resource for nurse reviewers' review-process questions and concerns.
  • Serve as the liaison and contact or resource person for providers regarding customer-service issues and problem resolution.
  • Perform all applicable review types as workload indicates.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to corporate policies, including HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

The extended contract, awarded through a competitive procurement process, reinforces the company's established role as a trusted partner delivering utilization management services for Colorado since January 2021.
