Responsibilities
  • Perform bench scale assays and proof-of-concept experiments
  • Maintain the process laboratory in an organized and safe manner
  • Curate, collate, summarize, and organize experimental data
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Ginkgo's fermentation, upstream process engineering (USP), downstream process engineering (DSP), QA/QC program and Alliance Management teams to successfully deliver products & processes to customers that leverage Ginkgo's engineered organisms
  • Design & develop scalable processes that can be transferred to commercial scales
  • Perform literature reviews and summarize relevant topics for active work streams
  • Assist with building computational models for new processes
  • Clean and maintain equipment & lab glassware
Desired Qualifications
  • BS in chemical engineering, chemistry, biotechnology, or related field
  • 4+ years in biotechnology or related biotechnology industry
  • Biotechnology process development experience in downstream processing of fermentation product
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on experimentation
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work in a laboratory setting
  • Strong attention to detail and level of efficiency with laboratory work
  • Understanding of product separation basics from fermentation broth
  • Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment, and balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and data analysis skills
  • Knowledge or exposure to the following programs & fields: Superpro, JMP, Excel VBA
