Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field of study is required.
  • Seven to ten plus years of manufacturing leadership experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma, as well as 5S, is required.
  • Strong business acumen in formulating strategic plans for enhanced profitability is required.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and technical competencies to improve plant processing performance in safety, quality, service, and efficiency using best manufacturing practices.
  • Prepare product and employee schedules and manage the production budget.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities through preferred vendors, production methodologies and processes, technical system enhancements, and training.
  • Partner with quality and engineering staff to identify opportunities to enhance and improve the end product.
  • Provide coaching, training, staffing, and performance management for direct subordinates and create development opportunities for succession planning.
  • Analyze production-related data, draw trend conclusions, and formulate improvement strategies and plans.
  • Maintain a safe production environment by ensuring staff comply with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Identify and recommend plant capital improvement projects that may enhance revenue.
  • Partner with management staff to resolve customer concerns and quality issues.
  • Model appropriate leadership behaviors for production staff.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering production levels, labor costs, staffing needs, anticipated obstacles, and issues.
  • Develop contingency plans for labor shortages, equipment outages, and economic downturns.
  • Facilitate and reinforce customer identity initiatives with production staff.
  • Engage with the site leadership team through knowledge sharing and problem resolution.
  • Communicate and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality and effective products and services.
