Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • One-year post-bachelor’s experience or nine months graduate assistantship experience within recreational or collegiate athletic programming.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sport Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Ability to officiate a variety of intramural sports and provide rule interpretations, game management support, and on-field/court mentorship to new officials.
  • Experience training, supervising, and evaluating sports officials across multiple intramural sport offerings (e.g., basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball).
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Accepted equivalencies for degree requirement include four additional years of relevant experience, or with an associate's degree plus two additional years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provide and market recreational involvement opportunities in intramural sports and special events.
  • Create, market, implement, and assess all intramural and special event programs and services.
  • Participate in program development, budget management, student employment supervision (1-2 graduate assistants, 10-20 program assistants, 20-30 sports officials, 5-15 intramural supervisors).
  • Engage in budgeting, strategic planning and assessment, and administrative functions.
  • Contribute to student satisfaction by building a sense of campus community and promoting recreation and personal development.
  • Observe and resolve risk management and safety issues and provide 24/7 emergency on-call response as necessary.
  • On-call response within 30 minutes.
  • Evening and weekend work required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Standard First Aid CPR and AED certification required within 60 days of employment.
  • Assess student needs and value a high degree of student contact.
  • Interact effectively with a wide range of people; excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Communicate well verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
