Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 8 years of related experience in stormwater and water resources, including design and project management.
  • A Registered Professional Engineer license in Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain one by reciprocity.
  • The ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants, and contractors through effective leadership, with demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of state and federal regulatory frameworks and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex works.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and project management for municipal and private stormwater and water resources projects, including hydraulic-hydrologic modeling, bridge, culvert, and drainage system design, inland and coastal flood mitigation planning and design, and civil site design and grading.
  • Serve as a stormwater and water resources subject matter expert and be responsible for technical project delivery and design, scheduling, budgeting, and client management.
  • Supervise and direct individuals or teams of technical staff on complex projects and/or multiple smaller projects.
  • Assist with training and technical development of staff by holding training seminars, providing technical guidance during project execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house.
  • Assist with strategic planning, training, proposals, and business development.
  • Consult with technical staff and Project Managers on stormwater and water resources challenges and provide independent technical reviews of stormwater and water resources components for other disciplines.
  • Oversee project technical accuracy through regular communication with project staff and review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations for compliance with firm standards.
  • Participate in required project risk and insurance training to recognize potential risks involving nonstandard technical matters or legal disputes and minimize firm liability.
  • Present project updates and technical information to clients and at public meetings.
