Requirements
  • Completion of a residency in General Surgery
  • Fellowship training in Breast Surgery or Surgical Oncology
  • Board Certification in General Surgery
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Pennsylvania and New Jersey
  • At least 7 years of clinical experience in breast surgical oncology
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic or large health system
  • National reputation for excellence in clinical care, research, or education in breast cancer
Responsibilities
  • Maintain an active clinical practice in breast surgery
  • Lead standardization of surgical care for breast disease across the enterprise
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, equity, and accountability
  • Expand access to high-quality, multidisciplinary breast care across all Jefferson sites
  • Serve as a visible clinical leader, representing Jefferson at national and international forums
  • Oversee and grow the clinical trials portfolio in breast surgical oncology
  • Collaborate with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, population science, and basic research to develop translational initiatives
  • Support SKCCC’s NCI core grant activities and develop extramurally funded research programs
  • Promote faculty engagement in national organizations (e.g., ACS, SSO, ASBrS) and scholarly dissemination
  • Mentor junior faculty and contribute to academic advancement across the department
  • Collaborate with Jefferson and SKCCC leadership to define program goals and drive performance metrics
  • Ensure consistent participation in tumor boards, quality initiatives, and clinical operations meetings
  • Lead recruitment, faculty development, and succession planning for the breast surgery program
  • Build and lead a breast surgery fellowship program centered at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
  • Partner with system leaders to drive philanthropy, community outreach, and DEI initiatives
