↑ 12%A specialty grocery 'Sprouts' in Hartsdale. Sprouts Farmers Market opens Friday, Sept. 4, in the dalewood shopping center. "Is it open?" two women asked as Connecticut, Inc. exited a preview of the new Sprouts Farmers Market in Hartsdale Wednesday, Sept. 2. They weren't the only ones as hopeful foodies have been pressing their noses against the glass, so to speak, for a couple of weeks. Well, foodies, your wait is almost over. The nationwide organic chain, which touts itself as a cross between a different kind of supermarket and a year-round farmers' market, makes its Westchester County debut at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, in a 24,000-square-foot space that was once part of The Christmas Tree Shops, which liquidated its assets as part of that chain's 2023 Chapter 11 bankruptcy. "Our biggest thing is helping people live and eat better," said store director Linwood Shannon, who will spearhead a team of some 100 employees. "You won't find Doritos on our shelves. But you'll find healthier options." You also won't find Sprouts organized like the typical supermarket, either, Mychael Ramirez, the company's public relations manager, demonstrated on its tour. Produce is still central, though in a different order. Where many supermarkets put fruits and vegetables first, complex carbohydrates are in the back at Sprouts, and protein - grassfed beef, no-antibiotics chicken, sustainably sourced fish - is up front. (A changing bulletin board displays the locally sourcing farms, while another sign announces the store will donate food that can no longer be sold but remains edible and nutrient rich to Feeding Westchester, the county's largest food bank, as part of Sprouts' Food Rescue program. Near the meats and prepared dishes on the left as you enter, you'll see a full-service delicatessen that makes built-to-order sandwiches ($4.99), Grab & Go salads and sandwiches and Grab and Enjoy treats like vegan chocolate chip cookies. There's also a wall of packaged charcuterie items. Sushi, rolled in-house daily, is $5 on Wednesdays. Throughout the store there are brands you'll recognize like the Fairfield-based Bigelow Tea, although not every kind, and Bonne Maman preserves, including one Connecticut, Inc. rarely see with less sugar. There is also, Ramirez said, a Sprouts brand private label with more than 100 products, everything from canned goods to baked items, waters, olive oil, vitamins and supplements. Speaking of the last two, Ramirez said there are more than 8,000 vitamins and supplements in a pharmacy section that also includes cosmetics that are free of dyes, paraben, sulfates and animal testing. Two changing sections offer seasonal goods and what Sprouts calls Forager Finds, up and coming brands that rotate every 90 days. These may upon review find their way onto the shelves permanently. Sprouts works with those companies that don't to tweak their products and marketing, Ramirez said. The new store is number 499 in the Sprouts family, with number 500 set to open in Spring, Texas next week, he added. There are also reportedly plans for two Sprouts stores in Connecticut, including one in Milford. By the end of this year, Sprouts will have opened 42 new stores with 50 planned for 2027. Not bad for a group that began in the 1940s with a man named Henry Boney, a $600 loan and a small fruit stand in San Diego. That led to Henry's Farmers Market, a group of natural food stores that the Boney family sold to Wild Oats Markets in 1999 for $46 million. In 2002, the family launched the first Sprouts in Chandler, Arizona. By 2012, private equity firm Apollo Global Management had acquired Sprouts, Henry's Farmers Market and Sunflower Farmers Market to create the Sprouts brand, which is headquartered in Phoenix and trades on the NASDAQ under the symbol SFM. On Friday, Sept. 4, there will be a ribbon-cutting at 6:30 a.m. Sure to be on hand is Paul Feiner, supervisor of the town of Greenburgh, which includes Hartsdale. "I'm very excited about Sprouts," he told Connecticut, Inc.. "I have been to Sprouts in other states, and the quality of the produce and food choices is exceptional." On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5, the first 200 customers will receive reusable Sprouts tote bags with sample products. The first 400 customers on Friday will receive a free long-stem rose from Falcon Farms Floral. All customers will be eligible for a 20% percent discount on their purchase once over the opening weekend when they sign up for Sprouts Rewards.
New Sprouts Farmers Market bringing dozens of jobs to metro Atlanta. By WSBTV.com News Staff September 02, 2026 at 4:24 pm EDT NEWNAN, Ga. - Something new is sprouting in Newnan. A Sprouts Farmers Market will open in Newnan in October, creating 83 full- and part-time jobs in the community, the company announced. The store will be located at 19 Millard Farmer Industrial Blvd., Suite F. Ahead of the opening, the company will host a two-day hiring event in September to fill the open positions. The in-person hiring event will take place at The Newnan Centre, at 1515 Lower Fayetteville Road. Hours are scheduled for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 10. No interviews will be conducted between noon and 1 p.m. Walk-in applicants are welcome and job seekers can also apply online in advance at sprouts.com/careers. Available positions at the Newnan location include department managers, assistant department managers and clerks across multiple departments, including produce, meat and seafood, deli, grocery, bakery and vitamins and body care. Sprouts is also hiring cashiers, courtesy clerks, receivers, administrative coordinators and scan coordinators. The specialty grocery store features an open layout with fresh produce located at the center of the building. Sprouts carries standard, organic, plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free and keto products. The store is scheduled to open on Oct. 16. Konat named future Sprouts CEO, succeeding Sinclair. Share via: Sprouts Farmers Market has announced a planned leadership transition: Nick Konat, president and COO, will become CEO and join the board of directors effective Jan. 4, 2027, while Jack Sinclair, CEO since 2019, will transition to executive chairman. Board Chairman Joe Fortunato will serve as lead independent director beginning the same date, the first day of the Phoenix, Arizona-based grocer's 2027 fiscal year. "The Board and I have spent significant time and consideration developing our succession plan, and we believe that now is the right time to transition Sprouts to its next generation of leadership," Sinclair said. "I've worked closely with Nick since he joined Sprouts in 2022 and seen firsthand his talent, drive and strong dedication to our people. He played a central role in shaping and executing our strategy, and I have tremendous confidence in his ability to lead the company to new heights." Konat joined Sprouts in March 2022 as president and COO, overseeing operations, marketing, merchandising, supply chain and innovation. He previously spent more than six years at Petco Health and Wellness Company, culminating as chief merchandising officer, and more than nine years at Target Corporation in merchandising, planning and leadership roles across food and fashion. He began his career with six years at Accenture. "It will be an honor to serve as the next CEO of Sprouts at this exciting and important time for our company," Konat said. Construction is well underway on the beloved farmer's market's new home, located in the Fortuna Plaza shopping center. The Potomac District social media page posted a video showing the progress occurring at the 4174 Fortuna Center Plaza storefront that previously housed Shoppers Food Warehouse. While it is evident that a great deal of work has already been done, it is equally clear that a great deal remains to be completed. Sprouts does not yet have an opening date set for this, its fifth Virginia location, however it is anticipating being ready to welcome customers at some point in 2027. Sprouts public relations manager Mychael Ramirez previously spoke to the Prince Williams Times about bringing the beloved chain to Dumfries, saying: "Sprouts is excited to bring our wide selection of fresh, local and better-for-you products to the Dumfries community as we continue to grow in Virginia."
