Requirements
  • At least 10 years of prior service in Special Operations, preferably at the E7 or O3 equivalent level.
  • Experience within Marine Forces Special Operations Command.
  • Strong technical understanding of Special Operations Forces formations, systems, networks, and acquisition principles.
  • A strong foundation in military and combatant command operations, chain-of-command relationships, and international partner cooperation.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% throughout the assigned Combatant Command Area of Responsibility, forward operating hubs, Washington, D.C., and domestic research and development facilities.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • A Top Secret security clearance with eligibility to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Political Science, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or International Relations.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary local interface to Special Operations Command and perform liaison functions between the Command and Capability Development and Innovation.
  • Accomplish task requirements with designated government project leads, ensure demonstration and evaluation schedules are met, and manage the relationship between the customer and contract personnel.
  • Support ongoing capability development activities to meet emergent operational needs within the Combatant Commander Area of Responsibility.
  • Develop and refine technical and operational requirements for Special Operations Forces-peculiar capability gaps.
  • Leverage an understanding of Special Operations Forces operational mission profiles to identify technology requirements, shortfalls, and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrate project management leadership to avoid or mitigate risks in meeting contract-specific performance requirements for planning, execution, and scheduling of technology assessments and demonstrations.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute technology assessments, operational evaluations, and leadership theater visits.
  • Deliver regular situational reports and technical briefs across classified and unclassified channels.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree and/or Professional Military Education, such as Joint Professional Military Education I or II.
  • Experience navigating the Department of War Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution cycle and joint interoperability frameworks, such as Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control.
  • Experience handling and managing Special Access Programs or Special Access Required-level technical data.
  • Experience with defense innovation ecosystems.
  • Experience identifying, tracking, and evaluating emerging commercial and defense technologies, including uncrewed systems, artificial intelligence, edge computing, resilient communications, and electronic warfare.
  • Demonstrated operational understanding of Special Operations Forces mission profiles, capability development cycles, and rapid acquisition pathways.

Sigma Defense has been selected to deliver a SUNet 2.0 prototype under an Other Transaction Agreement. The initiative aims to create a secure environment for artificial intelligence and machine learning development, data collaboration, and mission applications across the Department of War. Under the initial six-month effort, the Georgia-based company will deliver a production-representative Minimum Viable Product. The prototype will enable the government to evaluate core capabilities supporting AI/ML development, data operations, secure collaboration, and technology integration.
