Requirements
  • BA or MA (completed or in progress) in international relations, conflict resolution, international development, Middle Eastern Studies, or a related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in English
  • Practical experience with clear, concise writing
  • Practical experience with proofreading
  • High level of analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Interest in peacebuilding and conflict transformation
  • Familiarity with the MENA region
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and willing to take on tasks small and large
  • Prior international or cross-cultural experience
  • Ability to write and translate in French and/or Arabic (desirable)
  • We are looking for interns who can join our team for a minimum 6 month period
Responsibilities
  • Each successful intern will receive an internship Terms of Reference which will detail their responsibilities based on their indicated interests. The roles and responsibilities may include:
  • Grants Management
  • Support project implementation for ongoing MENA projects through maintenance of grants management tracking tools (i.e. regional dashboard, reporting tracker, and start-up and close-out trackers)
  • Assist with high-quality English language reviews for donor reports, project evaluations, and baseline assessments for MENA projects
  • Provide desk and background research for security, operational, and political updates on MENA countries
  • Support the preparation of and attend internal meetings (reflection sessions, quarterly review sessions, planning sessions) and ensure note-taking tasks and follow-up on action points
  • Program Development
  • Develop and write project proposals and concept notes for country and regional programs, based on programmatic ideas of the country programs and the MENA program
  • Research contextual information to enhance program design
  • Identify and research opportunities for new program development and partnerships
  • Other
  • Assist with knowledge management tasks (e.g. maintaining contact databases and ensuring the consistent online filing of documents)
  • Support meeting logistics, notetakings, and staff travel planning
  • Represent Search at external events and conferences
  • Performing other supportive and administrative duties as needed
