Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing applicant must enroll immediately upon hire in a Grand Canyon University Master of Science in Nursing Leadership or Master of Science in Nursing Education program, paid for by Grand Canyon University, or provide proof of at least 9 credits or 3 classes in any graduate program or an approved national certification related to the content area being taught.
- Five years of recent registered nurse clinical experience, including three years of recent direct psychiatric patient-care nursing experience with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing applicants must have completed the Clinical Faculty Academy through the Missouri Hospital Association at the time of application.
- An active, current, unencumbered, multistate compact registered nurse license is required.
- The applicant must successfully pass a drug test and competency testing.
- The applicant must have communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Responsibilities
- Reinforce didactic content by teaching the knowledge and skills needed for pre-licensure nursing.
- Collaborate with content-area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical objectives.
- Participate in grading written and clinical performance check-offs.
- Remain current with new trends and developments in the specific field of nursing practice.
- Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation.
- Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession and the pillars of the university.
- Travel to Grand Canyon University student sites and directly observe student performance when scheduled for clinical rotations.
- Participate in and support the university program, including alignment with the institution's philosophy and direction and service to the community.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the university's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission.
