Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong supervisory, management, and administrative skills.
  • Direct experience in advanced video, film, and sound production.
  • Proficiency in audio field recording.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Avid Media Composer, and Avid Pro Tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, set priorities, delegate, motivate, and communicate objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities when working with diverse students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible day and evening shifts and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the equipment cage during scheduled part-time shifts.
  • Maintain a positive, service-oriented environment for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist the Video Cage Coordinator and Film Centre Co-Directors in implementing programmatic goals and operational collaboration.
  • Follow and help enforce cage equipment access policies and assess user eligibility in the online reservation system.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for common film equipment and workflows and escalate advanced inquiries.
  • Supervise and train student employees and work-study staff during shifts, including assigning and monitoring tasks.
  • Deliver basic instructional workshops, orientations, and hands-on equipment demonstrations.
  • Support technological planning and day-to-day cage management in alignment with academic program missions.
  • Implement and communicate operational policies and procedures, referring proposed policy changes to the Video Cage Coordinator and Co-Directors.
  • Participate in staff training on film skills, best practices, and safety.
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventories and records of equipment status and repairs, and notify leadership of issues or access limitations.
  • Ensure Film Centre users complete safety and equipment-specific training before checkout and track training completion.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining online equipment documentation, short guides, and Film Centre website entries.
  • Provide tier-one support for production and post-production facilities and escalate complex technical or policy issues.
  • Assist with equipment staging for classes and productions and participate in periodic inventory audits.
  • Provide usage and condition feedback to support long-term capital planning.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience managing an online reservation system.
  • Experience with 16mm film.
  • Experience in post-production, sound mixing, and color grading.
