Requirements
  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule, Security Rule and Hi-Tech Act.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and follow through with effective solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Hands on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
Responsibilities
  • Manage information technology and computer systems.
  • Monitor, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
  • Work closely with departmental managers to determine the maintenance and growth needs of the network.
  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time.
  • Manage user accounts utilizing the EMR system.
  • Perform maintenance on domain server, wireless devices and hospital printers.
  • Audit systems on network devices and accounts.
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures.
  • Responsible for working in conjunction with home office IT professionals by assisting with the implementation of the disaster plan in the event of a crisis to maintain company functionality.
  • Serve as HIPAA Privacy/Security Officer.
  • Periodically review and recommend updates to HIPAA Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain the logs necessary to comply with HIPAA Policies and Procedures.
  • Conduct periodic technical and non-technical evaluations of Hospital efforts to assure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PHI accessed or maintained by the organization.
  • Manage staff authorization to access PHI and termination of access authorization.
  • Develop recommendations to address issues identified in HIPAA Risk Assessment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Patient and Hospital matters.
  • Attend continuing education classes as requested and required.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned requested and/or required.
Desired Qualifications
  • 2-3 year experience in information technology management, preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills, preferred.
  • Additional language of Spanish, preferred.
