  • An associate degree or a high school diploma/GED is required.
  • A Licensed Practical Nurse license or Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification is required.
  • Nurse assistant training and/or three months of experience is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to meet the demands of an active position are required.
  • The ability to lift, push, and pull 10–20 pounds occasionally, move objects weighing less than 10 pounds frequently, and perform sitting, walking, standing, squatting, bending, reaching, keyboard/computer use, and repetitive motions is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform specified nursing care under the direction of a Nursing Supervisor.
  • Conduct thorough patient health assessments, accurately record information, and promptly report unusual data to the nursing supervisor or provider.
  • Assess and identify patient symptoms and problems, and administer medications through methods within the scope of practice, including oral and intramuscular administration.
  • Deliver patient care and education addressing physiological and developmental problems, support and educational needs, family learning levels, and environmental problems.
  • Obtain and handle specimens according to policy, follow infection-control guidelines, use personal protective equipment appropriately, and assist the provider with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Assist with developing and updating patient nursing plans and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Educate families or caregivers on health promotion, safe environments, healthy lifestyles, risk-reducing behaviors, developmental needs, and age-specific care and safety.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to treatments and interventions.
  • Deliver patient care while meeting quality-management goals and maintain clinical competencies through return demonstrations or computer-based learning modules.
  • Complete departmental documentation promptly, thoroughly, and accurately.
  • Provide child- and family-centered care through caring and professional interactions with patients and families.
  • Help patients feel at ease by creating a comfortable environment that reduces fear.
  • Interact and collaborate professionally with other patient-care providers.
  • Explain procedures and medications in an understandable manner while maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and orderly clinical and patient-care environment.
  • Record applicable patient charges promptly and accurately to support appropriate billing of services.
  • Use hospital resources and time efficiently and responsibly in accordance with Lean Principles, and serve as a role model and resource for others.
  • Stock supplies and equipment proactively or as directed to support efficient patient care.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
