Requirements
  • PhD with relevant research or industry experience, or MS with relevant and extensive industry experience, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Deep background in signal and image processing, including experience applying modern machine-learning and artificial-intelligence approaches in resource-constrained sensing systems.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research environment.
Responsibilities
  • Define dataflow and compute architectures for ASIC- or FPGA-based near-sensor processing, including streaming pipelines, memory and bandwidth budgets, latency targets, and power constraints.
  • Map computational imaging, computer vision, and machine-learning inference algorithms to hardware-feasible forms; specify numerical precision and quantization strategies.
  • Own real-time performance budgeting, including throughput and latency modeling, and drive architecture decisions that enable real-time reconstruction and analysis.
  • Partition functionality across ASIC/FPGA, embedded processors, and software; define interfaces and performance requirements.
  • Co-design end-to-end sensing systems—including optics, sensor, readout, and compute—and perform trade studies across signal-to-noise ratio, resolution, dynamic range, throughput, latency, robustness, and complexity.
  • Develop or adapt physics-based models of sensor system performance and validate predictions against laboratory and field measurements.
  • Lead system-level prototyping and integration including sensor, optics, electronics, and FPGA, as well as instrumentation and data pipelines.
  • Partner with digital and mixed-signal design teams to iterate on designs and evaluate results.
  • Produce architecture documentation, performance budgets, and technical reports; communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to intellectual-property generation and platform planning for advanced sensor systems.

Analog Devices acquires Alif Semiconductor for $1.35B to advance AI-native edge processing

Analog Devices will acquire Alif Semiconductor for $1.35 billion in cash, with a potential additional $200 million in contingent payments. The deal, expected to close before the end of 2026, aims to advance what ADI calls "Physical Intelligence" — systems that sense, reason, and act locally in real time. Alif provides AI-native microcontrollers and fusion processors designed for edge intelligence. The acquisition will combine Alif's digital processing platform with ADI's analog capabilities in sensing, signal processing, power, and connectivity. The merger targets applications across industrial, data center infrastructure, defence, energy, robotics, digital health, and wearables. Alif's silicon is already shipping to production customers. PJT Partners advised ADI, whilst Qatalyst Partners advised Alif. The transaction requires regulatory approval under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.

ADI shares drop 5.6% in a month amid premium valuation, but data centre and industrial strength drive margin expansion

Bernstein upgrades Analog Devices to Outperform as Q3 beat drives growth outlook

Bernstein upgraded Analog Devices to Outperform from Market Perform and raised its price target to $465 from $430 following the semiconductor company's stronger-than-expected fiscal third-quarter results. Analog Devices reported quarterly revenue of $4.022 billion, beating Wall Street expectations of $3.922 billion, whilst earnings per share reached $3.45 compared with the $3.35 consensus forecast. The upside was spread across the business, with automotive providing particularly strong contribution alongside industrial, consumer and communications revenue. The company's fourth-quarter forecast also exceeded expectations, with revenue guidance of $4.3 billion and earnings of $3.86 per share, well above Wall Street estimates of $4.085 billion and $3.55 respectively. Gross margin is expected to reach approximately 74%, around 150 basis points above consensus. Shares gained around 1% in US premarket trading.
