Requirements
  • Must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree.
Responsibilities
  • All clinical responsibilities include general soft tissue surgery including emergency surgery, wound management and some oncologic surgery.
  • Teaching responsibilities will include lectures, surgical skills, laboratories, and clinical teaching of small animal soft tissue surgery to professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students.
  • Clinical-track faculty will be assigned up to 65-70 percent time in clinics, including clinical teaching of students and advanced training of interns and residents.
  • Use of scheduled off-clinic time for preparing teaching materials, conducting clinical research, writing for publication, and other scholarly activities.
  • Tenure-track faculty are expected to meet the criteria established in the college's Research Metrics document for their level of research appointment.
  • Although extramurally funded research is not required for clinical track faculty, participation in collaborative research projects, resident and graduate student projects is strongly encouraged.
  • Model and promote a culture of collegiality, professional citizenship, and collaboration in all academic endeavors to facilitate an excellent workplace atmosphere conducive to effective learning, scholarly achievement, and a high level of job satisfaction.
  • Adhere to external, university, college, VMC, and department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree or equivalent research experience is desirable for tenure-track candidates.
