The Role:
The Portfolio Cybersecurity Technical Advisor is an exciting opportunity to positively impact a wide range of companies. This role is designed to provide technical depth and solutions across our program that measures and advises on the security posture of Blackstone’s global portfolio of companies.
As a Technical Advisor on the team, you will be the go-to person to advise companies on the implementation of technical solutions, evaluating vendor solutions to be used by portfolio company security teams, and extending our data collection and modeling stack. With our community of peer security professionals, you will share knowledge on leading practices, current threats, and assist companies in selecting the right products to fit their needs. Finally, you will contribute technical expertise to due diligence and crisis response as needed. Our work is a mix of hands-on program operations and advisory responsibilities that requires exceptional communication skills in order to interact with a range of technical stakeholders.
Job Functions:
Use our methodology to drive measurable cyber improvements across sections of the portfolio
Counsel and share knowledge about our methodology with senior executives and peers
Interface directly with CISOs to advise on strategy, toolsets, and threats
Go deep in technical assessments to identify blind spots and remediate them
Perform briefings about cybersecurity best practices to company leadership and technical teams
Develop relationships with third parties to facilitate the remediation of gaps
Extend our data collection and reporting stack to deliver business intelligence to our customers
Identify and implement new ways to monitor the portfolio for technical cyber risks
Own and drive select program functions as assigned
Qualifications:
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technology field. M.S. a plus
Minimum 5 years of experience in a mix of hands-on and advisory/leadership cyber roles
Broad subject-matter experience and ability to field discussions across the spectrum of cybersecurity, whether technical or strategic
Prior consultative/internal experience with senior technical and non-technical executives
Prior experience in varied security program operations. Offensive security experience a plus
Possesses a depth of opinion on one or more security topics or technologies demonstrated by personal, community research, or professional work experience
Self-starter, ability to prioritize work, and propose and implement improvements
Highly effective communicator both verbally and in writing
Strong time management skills and entrepreneurial attitude
Desire to work in a small team in a hands-on way

Expected annual base salary range:
$110,000 - $225,000
Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual’s experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
