Requirements
  • You must have passed the tax advisor examination or be shortly before the examination; passing the examination is required for the Manager Tax title.
  • You must have one to three years of experience after the examination, or have an existing client portfolio as an experienced mid-market tax advisor.
  • You must have previously held client responsibility rather than working exclusively as a partner's assistant.
  • You must communicate clearly and reliably in writing and in client conversations, including difficult topics with managing directors.
  • You must be prepared to use artificial intelligence for research, drafting, analysis, and client communication.
  • You must be entrepreneurial and take responsibility for your portfolio.
  • You must be willing to contribute to building new standards, tools, and locations.
Responsibilities
  • Take over and independently manage an existing client portfolio, including annual financial statements, tax returns, and ongoing advisory services.
  • Act as the direct contact for owners and managing directors of mid-market companies.
  • Actively develop the client portfolio by expanding mandates and cross-selling services within the Vogel group, including tax structuring, financial planning and analysis, and mergers and acquisitions preparation.
  • Support the acquisition of new mandates with management and the business development team through initial meetings, professional assessments, and handover to ongoing client service.
  • Conduct networking activities through industry events, associations, and local multipliers.
  • Take over the lead pipeline when mandates transfer to the group through acquired firms.
  • Build an Associate team over the next 12 to 24 months, including entry-level employees, working students, and interns.
  • Provide professional guidance and personal development for assigned team members.
  • Ensure the quality of the team through clear requirements, regular feedback, and consistent corrective action.
  • Help develop tax standards, including client architecture, tooling, and the internal knowledge base.
  • Work with central functions including Operations, Technology, financial planning and analysis, and mergers and acquisitions integration of newly acquired entities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at a Big Four, Next-6, or focused mid-market tax advisory firm.
  • Experience as an experienced tax advisor from the mid-market with an existing client portfolio is welcomed.
  • Tax expertise in at least one specialization, such as mid-market tax, partnerships, succession, international structures, or another clearly defined specialization.
