Requirements
  • PhD in Plant Biology, Microbiology, Entomology, Plant Pathology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with plants as part of their PhD project.
  • Enthusiastic, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to work with diverse teams.
  • Aptitude for organization and multitasking, capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and interactive research environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience and willingness to mentor early career scientists, including graduate and undergraduate students.
Responsibilities
  • Governing research area on the ecological, chemical, and molecular mechanisms that mediate soil-microbe-plant-insect interactions.
  • Gather and merge existing data from lab and literature.
  • Complete experiments and synthesize data.
  • Prepare monthly and yearly updates for funding agency.
  • Contribute to lab duties and maintenance of lab safety.
  • Complete manuscripts for peer review.
  • Assist with initiating new research topics described above.
  • Writing grant proposals, project management, and scientific articles.
  • Assist with extension and outreach duties through participation in undergraduate research, farmer/public engagement events/webinars and through presentations at conferences.
