Requirements
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required upon hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Collect pertinent patient health or situation data, including vital signs, height and weight, and food and fluid intake and output.
  • Report abnormal findings to the registered nurse and patient care team.
  • Participate in care planning and the nursing report process.
  • Incorporate patient and family rights into care decision-making.
  • Use standardized techniques to keep patients and families informed.
  • Provide personal care, including bathing, oral care, and skin care.
  • Assist patients with eating and hydration, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Incorporate safe patient handling into ambulation, range-of-motion activities, and use of assistive and prosthetic devices.
  • Promote a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Apply standard and transmission-based precautions and infection-control techniques.
  • Provide the registered nurse with details about patient progress toward goals and outcomes.
  • Document all care in the patient record.
  • Support identification and analysis of errors and near misses within a safety culture.
  • Participate in departmental safety inspections to help ensure compliance with hospital safety standards.
  • Comply with hospital and regulatory-agency safety goals, objectives, and limitations of unlicensed assistive care.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate's degree.
  • Previous mental-health-related experience.
