Requirements
  • At least 7 years of prior work experience in information technology.
  • Proven leadership in developing solutions using technology.
  • Comfort working with senior leadership and the ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple competing goals and tasks.
  • Exceptional communication and project management skills, including the ability to speak to and generate documentation for a broad range of constituents.
  • Experience managing teams and/or individuals directly.
  • Certifications in Microsoft and Apple products.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Windows and Apple hardware and software.
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the key strategic technology advisor to the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean of Administration and Finance, departmental chairs, center directors, and other senior school leaders.
  • Hold regular meetings with technical staff across eleven units; define, implement, communicate, and continually improve the applied use of technology in administration, research, scholarship, and pedagogy.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for technical aspects of capital projects, building renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Represent the School of Engineering at conferences and meetings with education peers and manage one full-time staff member.
  • Maintain technical certifications relevant to current information technology trends in operating systems, information technology security, and project management.
  • Ensure efficient and effective support of departmental desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers, projectors, and other electronic and audiovisual devices and equipment.
  • Provide guidance to more than 200 faculty and staff on computing purchases and maintain more than 600 devices school-wide.
  • Conduct research and analysis to develop recommendations regarding hardware and software configurations, policy standards, user needs, and hardware and software capabilities and limitations.
  • Manage backups, system lifecycles, software versioning, and technology assets.
  • Support office productivity applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, email, university business applications, and in-house applications.
  • Maintain standardized Intune, Jamf, and FCP machines, CyberArk, Entra ID Directory, and Windows server administration.
  • Administer, design, and develop Smartsheet, PowerApps, and Microsoft SharePoint applications for broad school-wide deployment.
  • Communicate Office of Information Technology alerts and best practices to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Administer procedures and configure devices to ensure safe travel abroad for faculty and staff in compliance with university policies.
  • Support TigerData, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive cloud storage solutions.
  • Develop and support in-house database systems, inventory systems, and building technology infrastructure.
  • Design and deploy user databases on new printing, imaging, and copier systems to ensure security and functionality for electronic documents.
  • Consult with departmental technical support on school-wide projects such as platform adoption, including Drupal.
  • Work closely with and serve as the main point of contact within the engineering community on Office of Information Technology initiatives.
  • Implement new or improved building technology for school-wide systems and act as system administrator for infrastructure systems such as the nitrogen gas meter billing system and mail room automation services.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical gas monitoring infrastructure, including server environments, networks, workstations, and cloud solutions.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical infrastructure across multiple sites.
  • Manage and execute software and hardware integrations with research, operations, and other campus systems across multiple platforms and locations.
  • Enable change-management processes so new systems, software updates, and hardware changes are evaluated, tested, and implemented with minimal disruption.
  • Apply information technology best practices for service delivery, system lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of critical infrastructure and software solutions across multiple facilities.
  • Review and recommend new technologies and systems that may improve operational efficiency, security, or research capabilities.
  • Educate and train faculty and staff on proper computing techniques.
  • Train faculty, staff, students, and visitors to use conference and meeting-room audiovisual equipment.
  • Assist faculty with classroom technology equipment and monitor, inventory, and maintain departmental audiovisual technologies.
  • Act as liaison to the Office of Information Technology for technical issues and projects.
  • Facilitate engineering SCAD meetings to share best practices in the research and teaching environment.
  • Leverage training opportunities provided by the SCAD/DCS program.
  • Represent the School of Engineering at monthly SCAD/DCS and Office of Information Technology security meetings.
  • Support 10 event and meeting spaces across multiple buildings.
  • Provide technical guidance and support at large school events by directing audiovisual and technical needs.
