Jabil is adding multiple Hardware Diagnostic Technicians to our team in Northern Kentucky who will directly contribute to the transformative growth within our Intelligent Infrastructure division by applying hardware troubleshooting and debugging expertise to optimize customer product performance and functionality. As part of the Test Engineering team, Diagnostic Technicians are responsible for executing hardware troubleshooting and debugging for various Advanced Compute Platforms.
SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, Hardware Diagnostic Technicians are responsible for the verification testing, diagnosing and repairing of electronic circuit board assemblies for Advanced Compute Platforms. Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace various computer hardware components in a server manufacturing environment. Utilize automated scripts and Linux command lines to search for file patterns, navigate through directories, etc. to facilitate the debugging process. Contribute to optimizing system performance for new and sustaining AI/ML and GPGPU and hardware accelerator-based server, storage, and networking platforms.
Hourly Compensation:
- $27.60 USD - hourly (including shift differential)
- $500 sign-on bonus for external new-hires
Shift / Schedule:
Diagnostic Technicians are required to work 12-hour shifts on the following schedule:
- 402 Shift: (weekday, night schedule) 6:00PM to 6:00AM, Monday through Wednesday, and Monday through Thursday every other week.
- For example: 36 hours week 1 (Monday - Wednesday), 48 hours on week 2 (Monday - Thursday), 36 hours week 3 (Monday - Wednesday), etc.
- Occasional overtime may be required, depending on business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and/or repair hardware failures to component level on various Advanced Compute Platforms: CPU, Motherboards, DIMMs, expansion cards, etc.
- Exhibit proficiency in the use of electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to understand and utilize assembly documentation; Schematics, BOM’s, Visuals, Debug, Testing tools and procedures.
- Assist Test Engineering department in an ongoing data evaluation program for improving the efficiency of the diagnosis of assemblies and overall performance.
- Understand, recognize and execute Jabil production requirements, rules, policies and procedures.
- Work as a team member to achieve Diagnostic department’s process yield goals.
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of computer hardware, hardware troubleshooting skills, and thorough understanding of hardware functionality.
- Familiarity with SSH, Linux, BIOS, BMC, PCIe, and POST.
- Experience working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environments.
- Proven ability to work within a fast-paced and highly ambiguous manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to walk, and to lift and carry PC’s and test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor screens a great deal of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Individual’s primary workstation is located on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Diagnostic Technicians are required to wear appropriate PPE, including: hearing protection, composite toe shoes, and protective eyewear. The manufacturing floor is well-lit and climate controlled.
